# Actions

Actions define what happens when a user interacts with an item in an app. They are most commonly used to customize what happens when a user selects a cell, button, or navigation item.

For example, an action can:

- Open another screen or return to the previous screen
- Save or update a value in local or session storage
- Display a confirmation dialog or notification
- Refresh a component after a change
- Send data to an external service

Actions can also be combined into a sequence for more complex scenarios. A profile selection could save profile information in session storage and then continue the login flow. A preference selector could update a stored value, refresh content, and display a confirmation message.

The actions available in an app depend on its QuickBrick version and installed plugins. Some feeds and plugins can also add actions automatically for a specific use case.

## Actions Menu
